Hurricane Alicia formed in the Gulf of Mexico and made a move toward the Texas coast in
August of 1983. Alicia battered the Texas coast and made landfall on August 18th 1983
winds were 115 mph with alicia as she came ashore,Galveston was swamped. Houston had
considerable damage done. Fires burned in Houston caused by downed wires and broken
gas lines. At the height of the storm about 750,000 people were without power. Alicia
caused 42 deaths in the United states and caused 2 billion dollars in damage to Texas
